Participating_Mechinot_9_2906434448Ein Prat‘s army prep program was established in order to breathe new life into ancient values – to encourage high motivation for a significant military service in the IDF through reviving the Zionist heritage from its ruins. Furthermore, the academy strives to nurture a comprehensive sense of social leadership which derives from a profound Jewish identity, social perceptiveness and loyalty to Zionism.

Target Audience

The academy welcomes high-school graduates from across Israel.

Educational Approach

  1. Community Life: Establishing social commitment and discouraging egoism by building a solidarity group in which the students live, study and create, as a model of the exemplary Israeli society to which the Academy strives.
  2. Intellectual Environment: The Academy stimulates its students’ curiosity and intensifies their desire for knowledge through meetings with inspirational lecturers and educational groups. The object of these studies is to assist the students in shaping their moral world while establishing a tolerant Zionist personality based upon broad knowledge and education.
  3. Initiative and Leadership: Day-to-day life at the academy is run by the students themselves. Each student gains practical experience in management, running a team, taking initiative and lecturing. These responsibilities build a sense of self trust in the students’ own leadership capabilities. Furthermore, in order to strengthen their influence, the students learn the art of rhetoric and expository and creative writing.
  4. Preparation for Service and Geography: The establishment of a personality prepared for significant military service, in which the value of loving one’s fellowman and homeland are branded. The academy preaches high standards of assignment completion, integration and respect for people in every place, and the vision of the IDF as the social melting pot of Israel. Alongside the mental preparation, the program of physical preparation includes navigation, cross-country field trips, survival and an intensive sports program.
  5. Contribution to the Community: Each student at the academy takes part in a social project, and works on it with persistence and perseverance. Through this process, students experience first hand the social challenges faced by Israeli society, the different within it, and the different ways one can effect change and make an impact.

Meitarim Lakish at Beit Guvrin 

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAMeitarim Lakish is an army preparatory program for both religious and secular participants, male and female. The program is for someone who is looking for a meaningful year of learning, productivity, making a close group of friends, getting to know the depths of the land of Israel and its history, developing personally and strengthening their Jewish identity and values. The program also includes agriculture work, community service activities and mental and physical preparation for a meaningful army service.

The program is located at Kibbutz Beit Guvrin, in the biblical area of Lakish, located in one of the most beautiful areas of Israel. Participants experience tiyullim, outdoor trips in the area and around Israel, and archeological digs, for which this area of the country is famous.

Participants of the mechina give back to the local community. They volunteer in a plethora of activities such as youth clubs, absorption centers, with at risk kids, helping the elderly and special needs children. Program participants also come up with their own individual initiatives to give back to the local community.

Throughout the year, the group really becomes close, develops personally and takes on responsibility for themselves and one another, as the program emphasizes the importance of “personal management”. Through this every participant can bring with them their full abilities to experience all aspects of themechina in an active manner.

The staff of the program develops personal relationships with each participant of the group, and the relationships between the participants and the staff is based on mutual values and relying upon one another.

Subjects covered during the program include diverse subjects such as: philosophy, Jewish thought, history, literature, religions, Bible, Middle East studies, Israeli society, ecology, Zionism and agriculture. Learning is done through various modes, including writing, film, theatre and art. The program invites top of the line lecturers, researchers and specialists to conduct classes and seminars for the mechina.

Participating_Mechinot_9_1389661202Nachshon is a year-long program originally designed for Israelis wanting to take a year “on” before their army service in the IDF. Now, it is also open to Jewish young adults from all over the world seeking to experience Israel and its people in the most personal and meaningful way. This unique setting offers participants in-depth courses in Hebrew, leadership development, Israeli society, the IDF and much more. The army prep program includes opportunities not only to learn all about Israeli history, culture and society but also a chance to explore the country’s landscape through tours and experiential education. Most importantly, this program offers participants a chance to live with Israelis as they share the meaningful experience with international participants while preparing for their future paths together.

Core Content of the program:

Meeting with Israeli peers, Israel studies, leadership development, volunteer and community service, the IDF, modern Israeli culture and more.

What does it include:

Full board accommodations, transportation, program activities, Ulpan, excursions, meetings with Israelis, security measures, medical insurance, volunteering opportunities, hikes throughout Israel.
